Leader of Bucks County Council at Political Reception
At a political reception last Saturday, Councillor Martin Tett, the Leader of Bucks Councty Council, was the guest of honour.
He spoke about the changes he has made at the County Council since being elected in May and then answered member’s questions.
The event was held at the RAFA Club in Totteridge Road and was well attended by both East Central branch members as well as members from the wider Association.
Councillor supports local Playgroup
Terriers and Amersham Hill Councillor Roger Colomb donated his ward community funds to Terriers Playgroup to help fund a new signpost. This was recently installed at St. Francis Church Hall, Amersham Road, where the playgroup meets every week-day morning during term time.
Terriers Playgroup, a registered charity, has been operating at St. Francis’ Church Hall for 42 years providing pre-school education and play for the area’s children. They can be contacted on 07967 898285 or visit their website at www.terriersplaygroup.co.uk.
Your local District and County Councillors have small funds of money that can be used to support local community projects and charities. If you are involved in a project that could benefit from some support and is based in the Terriers and Amersham Hill ward, please contact the councillors by emailing terriersandamershamhill@gmail.com.
Boundary changes proposed for County division
The above map shows the proposed changes to the boundaries of Terriers and Amersham Hill County Division. The man difference is the inclusion of Adam Close and Hepplewhite Close and some additional houses in Arnison Avenue as well as Wheelers Park and some additional houses in Totteridge Road. These would all come out of the current Bowerdean District Ward.
There would be no changes to the District ward boundaries so your District Councillor would not change.
These changes are out for consultation until the 10th October. If you wish to comment you should write to:

Conservatives returned top of the Poll in District Elections
The three Conservative candidates for Terriers and Amersham Hill were all successfully elected to Wycombe District Council at the election last Thursday. Roger Colomb has now started his 17th year as a councillor for the area, Tony Green his 13th and Arif Hussain starting on his 5th.
The result was declared at about 6.00pm on Friday to show that the three Conservatives had topped the poll. Elsewhere in Wycombe, the Conservatives won 42 seats out of 60 giving them control of the Council.
Council Elections on 5th May
Wycombe District Council
Campaigning for the Council Elections on the 5th May has now started. Conservative candidates for this ward Roger Colomb, Tony Green and Arif Hussain will try to call on as many people as they can between now and 5th May. If we are unable to meet you and you have a question for us you can email us at terriersandamershamhill@gmail.com.
If you would like to help them during the campaign then please contact us on the same email address.
The Conservative Party is contesting all 60 seats on the council. Other parties are fielding a reduced number of candidates. 3 wards, comprising 5 Councillors only had Conservative candidates nominated so are elected unopposed.
Of the other 25 wards, Liberal Democrats are fielding candidates in 24 of them, Labour in 20 with the Green Party fighting 2 , UKIP 1 and Independent candidates 4.
A list of all the Conservative candidates can be found by clicking here. The Conservative Party manifesto for Wycombe has also been published and can be viewed by clicking here.
Success at stopping housing development
A proposal by a developer to knock down no 135 Totteridge Lane and replace it with 3 new houses was turned down this week at Wycombe District Council’s Planning Committee.
The local residents, supported by the three local conservative councillors, argued that the proposed development would be out of character with the surrounding area as well as being an over development of the site. Their argument was accepted by the committee who voted unanimously to reject the planning application.
No Increase In Council Tax
Despite the reduction in the Support Grants from Central Government: Buckinghamshire County Council receiving a 14.3% reduction and Wycombe District Council a 15.2% reduction, there will be no increase in Council Tax.
Indeed there will be a reduction as the Special Expenses precept (our equivalent of a Town Council) paid by Terriers and Amersham Hill residents will be reduced very slightly.
This has been achieved without reducing frontline services other than slight readjustment to some bus services after 8.00pm in the evening and on Sundays. Both Councils are working on changing the way services are delivered to reduce costs.
Examples of this will be the re-opening of the Holywell Mead Pool by Wycombe District Council with enhanced facilities which will be provided at no cost to the taxpayer by outsourcing.
Buckinghamshire County Council will be doubling the Local Area Budgets, and increasing gritting provision. The junction of Bowerdean Road and Totteridge Road will be re-engineered and the traffic light phasing changed to include a pedestrian provision. Joint working between Buckinghamshire County Council and Wycombe District Council has resulted in BCC contributing £100,000 from its capital grant and WDC allocating £100,000 from the funds collected from the developers of Wycombe Marsh.
The Coalition Government has provided an additional £31 Million of capital funding to Buckinghamshire County Council so that the school building maintenance programme and road resurfacing will be enhanced considerably after years of minimal support.
So overall it’s good news – not the doom and gloom peddled in the media.
Local councillors support St Francis of Assisi church to install an emergency exit.

Cllrs Tony Green, Roger Colomb and Arif Hussain with Churchwarden Dr. Peter Gee at St. Francis Church Hall.
Using their ward budgets, the three district councillors for Terriers and Amersham Hill ward have given St. Francis church at Terriers £1,600 towards work to create a proper fire door at the east end of the church. This will mean that the church will be able to have emergency fire exits at both ends of the church and will be able to hold more community events such as concerts in the church building.
Councillors Roger Colomb, Tony Green and Arif Hussain presented their cheques to the church during morning service on the 20th February.
